Week 3 Extra Reading Diary: Shedlock A

The Hare That Ran Away:

  • Buddha has been reincarnated into a lion to help the animals as he did with his fellow humans.
  • I thought this was funny because one little hare honestly thought the earth was falling in and spread the news with such conviction that others actually believed her.
  • It reminds me of the internet.
The Monkey and the Crocodile:
  • A couple of crocodiles decide to eat the great monkey's heart but he lives on land while they reside in the water.
  • The monkey is always out smarting the crocodile.
  • There is a similar story in The Babbit The Monkey and the Crocodile
  • The monkey gets away by telling the crocodile that he is no in possession of his own heart.
The Parrot Who Fed His Parents:
  • Buddha has been reincarnated into a beautiful parrot.
  • It was sad that none of the other birds would go back to their leader after finding that he was caught.
  • This reminds me of, "Give a man a fish, he'll come back for more. Teach him how to fish, he will learn to catch his own food".

The Man Who Worked to Give Alms:
  • A man and his wife gave everything they had to give alms.
  • They literally had nothing but the clothes on their back.
  • People should be more giving.
